World War 2 warfare

Many soldiers fought in The Second World War. They battled on the ground, on the sea and in the air.

The Blitz and D-Day are some of the better known events of the war. The Blitz started in 1940 when Nazi Germany strategically bombed many of the United Kingdom's major cities. D-Day was when the allies landed in Normandy to liberate France.

Use the picture and text tools to write about the soldiers and events of the war.

Key points:

  • How do you think the soldiers felt going into battle?
